I am often asked "why do you have a blog" and I had previously posted on this topic. My response was that I wanted to control the media surrounding my name, and ensure that when people searched for "Rob Laidlaw" they found me... and not the singer and songwriter. Since that time, I have secured my own domain names rob-laidlaw.com and roblaidlaw.com and now am happily atop the Google search listings for my own name. Mission accomplished.
However, today I blog to share my thoughts and experiences with others. To some degree, I miss my opportunity to write the "Publisher's Letter" in Modified Magazine, and to give my own commentary on business, life, and everything going on in our World. Today, I enjoy talking about our latest ventures, and keeping family and friends updates on the successes of VerticalScope. It has been a great way to re-connect with many old contacts, and often times gain the chance to work together again. At the end of the day, this blog is my own little place on the web where I can brag, criticize, spell wrong, and babble on forever. Nobody has to read it, yet my traffic has been steadily increasing, and the blog now earns me enough advertising revenue to support my morning and afternoon Snapple addiction.
Why blog? Why not?!?!
