I'm not a big fan of New Years Eve in general. I think it is overly commercialized and people just build up their expectations so high. I really could never do a night club on New Years - I already find that clubs are too busy on Friday/Saturday nights, so New Years is far too crazy for my liking ... I like having my own little bit of room! So I just went to a friends house last night and had a good time and good conversations with people I know.
I think our world doesn't have enough "Family and Friends" type days. Christmas has become so commercialized, and it seems to me that everybody these days is so worried about their own personal lives that they don't take enough time for their friends and family. My family in Regina has a large get-together for Boxing Day each year with over 20 relatives. Its a great time once-per-year for everybody to get together and catch-up on what's new. Its only 1 out of 365 days per year, but it still seems that some people "dread" this day. I don't understand it. Are we really so busy that we can't take 1 day per year to set aside for family?
Finally, I've been trying to think of a New Years resolution.... any ideas?!? How about drinking, but not getting DRUNK! (like Friday night!)
